PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.
♦ THE HERESY CHARGES. [UNITED PKBBB ASSOCIATION.] Cbbibtchubch, February 15. The Presbyterian General Assembly ie considering the case of the Rev. 8. J. Neill, of the Thames, against whose connection with a Theoaophioal Sooiety and dootrinal views exception bad been taken by the Auckland Presbytery. Reference from the Auckland Presbytery was read. It stated the Bteps that had been taken, and gave reports of the commission appointed to question Mr Neill and make inquiries regarding his teaohing, and the division m bis congregation. The Rev R. Somorvillo stated at length the oase of behalf of (be Auckland Presbytery, and gave an outline of the anti-ohristian teaching of the Thoosophioal Sooiety. The Rev. Mr Neill was not present at the Assembly, but wrote explaining that he was unable to attend through recent illness. Hp also forwarded a pampnlct entitled, /The History of tbe Heresy Hunt, by the /Hunted" " Evidence taken at the Thames by com* mission, and Mr Noill's letters to tke Auokland Presbytery, were also read. The disoussion is still proceeding.
