A mob, alter chasing them over the roofs of many dwellings, overtook the victims, Bprang upon them, and first stabbed them with spiked poles, then battared m their skulla and stripped every vestige of clothing off the bodies. "In mere wanton wickedness, " says the account " they inflicted nameless barbarities on their now dead and senseless bodies, and laft them for dogs to devour."
