THE NAVAL COURT-MARTIAL.
THE NAVIGATING-LIEUTENANT'S ADMIaSIONS. I.osdon, Jnly 21. Mr Barr, Navlgeting-Lieutenant of the Camperdown deposed that though the Admiral, Captain Johnstone and himself, were confident the evolution ordered was imposBible, Admiral Markham remarked, " We have got to do it, Tryon means it," at the same time piping the men to their collision stations. Had the Camperdown used her screws to aid the helms from the beginning she could easily have turned m Ics3 than cix hundred yards, but that would not have been performing the evoluj tion. When ships wera end on, and turning towards eaoh other, the collision could have been averted if the Victoria or tne Camperdon had reversed their helms.
