THE LOAN AND MERCANTILE COMPANY.

♦ IMPENDING LITIGATION. COMPULSORY WINDING UP GRANTED [united press association.] Received July 22, 10.50 a.m. London, July 21. It is likely litigation will be resorted to to decide whether eighteen hundred thousand pounds worth of debentures of the Loan and Mercantile not converted into debenture stock will have first charge on the uncalled capital with thirteen hundred thousand of converted debentures. It has been found impossible to frame a scheme for reconstruction until Mr Young has completed his examination of the company's affairs. Justice Williams granted an order for compulsory winding up, and expressed a hope that a more detailed statement of the assets would be made.
