THE SHIPPING STRIKE.
A BASIS OF SETTLEMENT.
[UNI2ED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] London, April 17. Mr Wilson, shipowner, Mr Mundella, President of the Board of Trade, aud Messrs Burns and Wilson, of the Seamens' Union, have agreed to an armistice pending the submission of terms of settlement to the Skipping Federation and the Hull strikers. Meanwhile work will proceed m London, and it is thought the strikers will accept the terms. April 18. The Shipping Federation decline to be a party to Chas. Wilson, M.P., shipowner, negotiating with the President of the Board of Trade m the present dispute, Mr Burns insists on the retention of the federation ticket. The basis of settlement of the present strike is the substitution for shipping federation of a Labour Bureau independent of employers and men, and under the control of the Board of Trade.
