In furnishing the Porirua A3yluin, 500 iron bedßteads will be required, and the Government with a view of fostering local industries hove asked iron manufacturers m various parts of the colony if they are willing to tender for manufacture, and if so to forward an approximate offer m the meantime, so that it may be ascertained if the price is anywhere near the English cost. If favorable replies are received the bedsteads will be manufactured m the colony.
