Playford, Premier 1 of South Australia, for limitation of holdings and compulsory sale of leasehold property, is causing considerable alarm, and it is rumored that large withdrawals of capital from that colony are contemplated. Arrived s.s. Eangatira from Wellington (August 21st). Monte Video, Ootober 13. A rebellion has taken place m Uruguay with an object to seize the Junta, and murder the President, but it failed. The Military suppressed the revolt after sharp fighting, m which a number of insurgents were killed. Madrid, October 13. Queen Christina has paid a visit to Mr Seymour Lucas, the English painter, and others injured m the recent railway accident at Burgos. , ? Park, Ootober 13. Many residents m Paris have petitioned Government to remove the late exhibition buildings, and also the Eiffel Tower. Brussels, October 13. Information ha 3 reached here that the Belgian vessel Ellen, losing her bearings m the Mediterranean Ssa, drifted hopelessly about for a fortnight. The crew suffered terrible privations, twelve of the number dying from starvation, and only one was rescued.
