Lohdoh, June 4. The Bank of England returns published to-day show the total reserve m notes and bullion to be £17;660,000, being an increase of £1,590,000 as compared with the previous week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 45*04. Consols, 94f ex div. .--, . ... • Three months bills are discounted lat 3| per cent. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 101, active ; 3 J do, 92J ex div. New Zealand long-berried wheat, 43s 6d. The market fa quiet. For New Zealand wheat on passage sellers are asking 425, but buyers wiil not give more than 41s 6d. Canterbury mutton, 4Jd; Wellington mutton, 3|d ; Canterbury lamb, sd. Beef — Forequarters, 3|d ; hindquarters, 5Jd. Hemp, fair quality, is quoted at £20 per ton, but there is no demand for it. South Australian wheat, 445. The market is flat. Victorian wheat, 43s 6d, flat. Sugar— Best German beet, 13s 3d, firm ; Java, 15s, nominal. Chilian copper, £54 15s ; Straits tin, £93. No 1 best Scotch pig-iron, f.o.b. m Clyde, 54s 6d ; market excited.
