Sydney, May 25.

A fearful explosion occurred at Palmer's Island, a township on the Clarence River yesterday afternoon. Three youths were handling fireworks m a store when a specimen known as " Jumping Jack" fired off and flew into an open barrel of gunpowder which was standing close at hand. A terrific explosion followed, the store being shattered to pieces, while the young fellows received fearful injuries. One of them named Block has since died.
