WRECK OF THE WANAKA.
« — : ACCIDENT TO FOUR SAILOES. New Plymouth, April 4. A heavy south-east gale was blowing last night, bat did not damage the Wanaka wreck much. The Union Company's representative arrived last night and went down to view the wreck. Yesterday evening Chas. Swan, second engineer of the Wanaka, N. Wood, first mate, John Crottie and James Johnson •were driving m from the scene of the wreck m a two-horse buggy when the animals bolted and threw them all out m Devon-Street. Swan's left leg was smashed, Wood's left knee injured, and the other two men slightly hurt and bruised. The trap was smashed and it was a miracle they were not all killed. The two first named were taken to the hospital, and reports from there this morning state that the injured men are getting on favorably.
