LABOUR PROSPECTS ON THE WEST COAST.
[united pbess association.] Westpobt, January 5, There is a promise of abundant work m this district during |the current year. Tenders are called for the Staiths extension, and the Mokihinui Railway. Harbour dredging will be taken- m hand as soon as the big dredge arrives from Lyttelton. Tenders for the Argyle Water-race extension will be called at the end of the present month; The plans for the loading basin— a big job — are m a forward state. It is also rumoured that the Westport Coal Company and the Westport-Wallsend Company will call for tenders shortly for .the construction of inclines on their Granity Creek and Ngahawau properties respectfully. Hall & Co. and J. Mitchell are both running coaches on the Nelson- West Coast line.
