THE NEW BISHOP. ■»' ' ' [dotted peess association.] Chkistchurch, May 2. This afternoon a luncheon was given to Bishop Julius and Mrs Julius, m the Provincial Council Chamber. There was a gathering of all the principal churchmen m the diocese, with many ladies; the Presbyterian, Congregational, Baptist, and Wesleyan Churches also had representatives; an apology was made for the absence of Father Cummings. Excellent music was provided by several .members of the Orchestral Society. Bishop Harper presided. The toasts proposed included "The Legislature of New Zealand" by the Dean, responded to by the Hon W. Reeves, M.L.C., and Mr Perceval, M.H.R.; "The Bishop of Christchurch," by Sir John Hall, to which Bishop Julius responded very happily. Bishop Harper proposed "The Primate"; other toasts were " Clergy of other denominations," " Visitors," " Mrs Julius and the ladies," and the " Press."
