At the Conference of the Conservative party Lord Salisbury urged thai: a united and bold front be shown m supporting the Tithes Bill and also the Irish Land Purchase Bill. Rumors of an immediate dissolution were heard only m the lobbies but members ought 'to be prepared for any emergency. Referring- to Swaziland the Premier said the Government had no intentions of surrendering it to the Boers. As to the education question it was intended to defer that for another year, Lord R. Churchill did not attend the meeting.
