DEATH OF J. R. GEORGE.
[united press association.] Wellington, June 27. Mr J. R. George, manager of the Gasworks, died suddenly of heart disease, late lasluight. lie had been about town as usual during the day. He was only 48 years of age, and came out 25 years ago as engineer for Kinnaird Bros., who built the extension to the Queen's Wharf. He constructed the patent slip, and upon the formation of the Gas Company ho took the post of manager, which he has held sver since. He had occupied a prominent position m the Chamber of Commerce, Harbor Board, and other local bodies.
