4 BIG LIBEL ACTIONS. THE OEMOND BEQUESTS. VICTOEIA AND THE DUNEDIN EXHIBITION. (united press association.) Melbourne, June 25. Mr J. J. Brown, former member for Mandurang, is issuing against the Age, a £20,000 writ for damages for libel, and McC^rron and Bird, publishers, have also instituted a similar suit against the same paper, for £10,000 damages. The late Francis Orrnond has bequeathed £113,000 to charities, churches, and colleges, including £40,000 to Ormond College, and £10,000 to the Workmen's College. A Gazette, containing the appointment of the Victorian Eoyal Commission to the New Zealand Exhibition, will be issued m a day or so. It is asserted that the principal reasons which actuated the Government m accepting New Zealand's invitation was a desire to foster the friendly feeling which always existed between the two, colonies, and al3o to practically reciprocate the liberal -manner m which New Zealand participated m the last two Melbourne Exhibitions.
