THE PICTON TRAMWAY.
♦ To THE EdITOB. Sib,—Modern invention, if not always having claims of merit, genefally bears the charm of novelty. Travellers over the Opawa bridge are now charmed by the sight of the gallant Peake running ahead of the engine with a red flag, singing out "Beware!" as if the large black and white "Look out for the engine" ia not sufficient. Excursionists to Picton are now exercised by the novelty of having to pay freight on the few fish they catch, as' if the railway fare was not quite high enough to choke off anyone who iright think of using the tramway for holiday purposes. May I make a suggestion which would save poor Peake's legs, frighten everything off the bridge, and amuse indignant excursionists. Let the Tramway Manager ride on the buffer of the engine with a red-tape necktie on. I will provide sufficient red-tape for the purpose (if required), as the tramway will probably run out of it before the end of the month.—l am, etc., Beg. B. 41, X. 7.
