i— * DEFRAUDING THE CUSTOMS. DARING ATTEMPT TO ROB A BANK, A DISMASTED SHIP. (united pbess association.) Melbourne, July 10. The authorities have decided to proceed criminally against Petsch Dachling and Company for defrauding the Customs by 'udder- Valuing a shipment of pianos. Three men attempted to rob the Bank of Australasia, Collins-street, this morning. Two of the men attracted the attention of the clerks by jostling the customers, whilst the other confederate attempted to take some bundles of notes containing £1300 from the counter. The attempt, however, was unsuccessful, and upon tna plot failing they quickly decamped. The ship Killo%han from Glasgow to Auckland, was towed into port to-day, dismasted. 'She reports having experienced terrible-weather m the Cape Otway, - where for some time she was m great danger. ' '
