■ tion, and calculated to ensure economical financial administration. The difficulty with the Wharf Labourer's Union, who demanded 15d an hour for lumping bag stuff, has been settled by the owners of vessels conceding the extra three pence demanded. Kemp has accepted the challenge issued by Hanlan to row for the championship and £500. Beisbane, June 29. The reported discovery of gold at Pine Creek turns out to be a " duffer."
