The Russian pre.3s admit that the outlook for Prince Ferdinand is more favourable. In a Gght between British troops and Dacoits, Burmah, Major Kennedy and Captain Baville were killed. The Dacoit loss was forty killed. The Canadian press denounce Mr Chamberlain's assertion that the commercial union of Canada and America would mean political separation from Great Britain. Oct. 21. Lord Roseberj', speaking at Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Scotland, complained of the apathy of the Government with regard to the New Hebrides, and said they ought to have spared no remonstrance to prevent the French occupation, which meant ruin to the missions already established there. Ulster, he thought, must share the lot of the remainder of Ireland, and was quite able to protect herself. Several large mining companies from Australia are ready for launching upon the market, but experts advise delay, as the market is dull just at present. Nelson's ship, the Victory, while off Portsmouth, commenced leaking badly, and very nearly sank.
