Dtjkedin, Jaly 16, ■ At the Supreme Court to-day m a case of malicious prosecution, the jury gave a three-fourths verdict for £10 damages against J. P. Walsh, who had charged John Roy with stealing a saddle. A man named Jeremiah Leay was fined £10, or two month's imprisonment, for counoilling and inducing an inmate cf tha Industrial School to abscond, and harbor • ing the lad after he had done so. July 18. Mr Dandas' residence, South Dunedio, was burned down. It was insured m the New Zealand for £75, and m the National for £70. - Westpobt, July 18. It is reported that Mr O. Napier Bell, the Harbor Board Engineer, intends re* signiDg m consequence of the antagonism of Mr O'Connor, a member of the Board. Auckland, July 18. A fire at Oliphant Street, Fonsonby, last night, destroyed two fonr roomed cottages owned by Adams an 3 Grovett respectively. Two adjoining cottages were badJy damaged. All were insured but the offices are not yet known.
