IMPORTANT MAIL CONTRACT PROPOSAL.
♦ Received May 6th, 2.30 p.m. Melbourve, May 5. « The Postmaster- General has cab'ed to the A gent-General m London requesting him to ask the British Pose Office to arrange under the new contracts with France and Italy, that it shall be possible for letters to be specially marked via Plymouth, thus avoiding the continental charge, and reducing the rates between Eng^nd and Australia to fourpence per half ounce.
