♦- (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) " * RoTOEUA, July 7. Professor Hutton returned to Rotorua last night, after five daya' inapeclion of the eifects on the ernption of the Galatea sides. He firat viaited Rotomahana, and then attempted to reach Mount Tarawera from the eastern side, bnt did not get within ten miles of the plaoe. He states that the crater is right at the top of Tarawera proper. With a glass he made out two streaming streaks down the Eida of the mountain; which ne believes to be lava streams. Professor Hutton haa not yet met the Auckland professors, who ara m camp at Kaiteriria, collecting data, but are expected bick today. The professional trio will then hold a conference. Professor Hutton is properly reticent aa to hia opinions until he haa communicated with the Government, but he apprehends no furtber dinger, and thinks the ascent of Tarawera will be perfeot for a Rummer expedition.
