Christchuroh, July 15. Mr Pilliett was the only candidate present at the declaration |of the Stanmore poll, yesterday. Mr Richardson's figures were declared at 336 not 345, a cipher having been mistaken for a nine. Mr Pilliett on |returning thanks, apologised to the! Returning Officer for some reflections he had cast on him at the nomination,

Last nlgbt Mr Pilliet, M.H.R. for Stanmore, was entertained at a dinner by his friends and supporters prior to his departure for Wellington. A large company assembled, and Mr Pilliet's health was drunk with great enthusiasm.
