An explosion occurred m the building, and caused some destruction m the neighborhood but the evident attempt to blow up the hall was unsuccessful. It is supposed dynamite was used, and is believed to have been laid by Fenians. The police have arrested two arme'l American Irishmen, on suspicion. Quebec, June 9, Yesterday a most destructive fire occurred m this city. The fire broke out ia a thickly populated part, and spread with great rapidity to several blocks of houses. All efforts to ' allay the progress, for some time were without avail. The conflagation raged several hours with great severity, but was finally extinguished. It is estimated fully a thousand houses were completely destroyed. It is yet unknown whether loss of life occurred.
