Threatened Rebellion in Ireland. Wellington, October 28. News per Cuzco states that Mr Parnell and other Home Eulers are speechfiying in Ireland, demanding a reduction in rents, compulsory sale of property owned by absentee proprietors and compulsory sale of waste Lands by Government. Mr Parnell advised farmers to pay no rents should landlords refuse reasonable demands. He was applauded everywhere. The churches in Memphis are closed on account of yellow epedemic. The Spanish Government are sending five thousand men to Cuba. Swedish Artie exploring expedition hare successfully made the North-east passage from Europe to Japan. Austrian troops well received at Novi Bazar by inhabitants and authorities. In lowering the anchor on the Earydus the capstan bars suddenly swung round killing two men and injuring several others. The interview between Emperors of Germany and Kussia at Alexandrovna was extremely cordial, nevertheless reported differences still exsist between Bismarck and Gortshakoff. The imperial interview is said to have been arranged contrary to the desire of Bismark. Cape news says CetewaTb is confined to Capetown castle. He declared he was always against fighting the English, being convinced that defeat was sure to be a matter of time, only his young men thought differently. He says Isandula was accidental, the army was sent over to Natal, but fell in with the camp. At one time they were actually retreating, when the ammunition of our men gave out, and they made a bull rush. They speak in the highest terms of the bravery of our men, who formed themselves into squares and fought with their bayonets against odds of 30 to 1. The army that went down to Korke’s drift was the reserve one of Cetewayo’s. It was only the gallant defence of that post that saved Natal. Cambulla was to be the decisive battle, and a second Isandula, but from that defeat the army never rallied to full strength, and they returned to King’s Kraal.
