Latest Markets.

Blenheim, April 9.—Although there is no improvement to note in the value of cereals, the prices remaining very much as they were last week, we have heard of some lots of barley fetching a good price. Mr W, Murray sold an excellent sample on Saturday at 5s 9d, and we have also since heard of as much as 5s lOd being given for prime samples. Large quantities have been shipped to Canterbury and the South within the past week or two. Messrs N. Edwards and Co. shipped by the p. s. Lyttelton, on Tuesday, upwards of 500 sacks, and this afternoon the schooner Dido cleared out with 700 sacks for Lyttelton. Wheat is quoted at from 3s to 3s 3d, and flour at from £ll to £l2. Potatoes £3, and very dull of sale. Oats at from 2s to 2s 6d, with but little demand. Barley, indeed, appears to be the only article of export from this place which is commanding a price remunerative to the grower. The want of rain in the country is much complained of, as what has fallen for some time past is far from sufficient; feed in many districts is becoming scarce, and will, unless there is more rain shortly, be very dear this winter and stock will suffer. The timber market is reported as not so brisk as it was some short time ago. The shearing season, so far as Marlborough is concerned, is now about brought to a close, and in round numbers some-6.000 or 7,000 bales have been sent down for export from this port. The depressed state of the wool market at home is not just now favorable to the interests of our local runholders, but it is hoped that the Home market will shortly recover its temporary depression.
