SPRING CREEK COUNTY ROAD BOARD.

The adjourned meeting of the Board was held at the Public Hall Marlboroughtown, on Wednesday last at 2p m. The members present were M»3srs G. Dodson (Chairman). F. Bnsch, I. •Gifford, J. H. Redwood and J. F. Hathaway. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and' confirmed. A letter was read from the collector Mr Stenhonse, asking for instructions relative to the collection of the rates, which were coming m slowly. The Secretary was instructed to authorize Mr Stenhouso to sue at once. The petition for a bridge oovenr n the^ditcb near Tytler-street, which was held over from last meeting, was next considered. The Board decided that they were not m a position to do the work at present. A report was read from the Inspector of Works, calling attention to the present condition of the Steam Wharf Road near Mr Sutherland's. — The-Biard resolved to visit the place m company with the Inspector. The following accounts were passed and paid : — G. Wilkins work Spring Creek Road, £20; Adams. Aberhart's Road £11 : Johnson. Printing &c , £12 16s 61 ; Homes, timber, £3 15s 6d ; Thompson, £2 15s 4d ; Buckland, CI (ss. On the motion of Mr Redwood the Secretary -was instructed to call for tenders for the Valuation of the district, such valuation to be made m accordance with the provisions of the Rating Act 1876, and the tenders to be m not later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday the 19th December. Messrs Redwood, Bnsch, and the Chairm*n were appointed to open the tenders and accept. On the motion of Mr Hathaway, the Secretary was instructed to procure six copies of the Hating Local E'eotions, Financial arrangements, and Public Works Acts,. The Inspector was instructed to prepare specifications and call for tenders for gravelling about 120 chains of the Upper Spring Creek Road. The Board then adjourned.
