Tuesday, July If.

The House met at 2-30 p.m. The business was comparatively uuirnportant. A fortnight's absence was granted to Mr Eees. Moat of the afternoon was devoted to discussing the 15th clause of the Regulation of Local Elections Bill. There was great diversity of opinion as to the hours at which the polls should be taken ; the Bill fixing the hours between nine and six. Mr Lusk wanted the power of fixing the time placed m the hands of the Local Boards. Others wanted the polls to be kept open from noon to night, or ten at uight. Others again opposed on tlie ground that it would tend to create drunkenness and tumult. .(Various amendments wee proposed, but all rejected, one division being 45 to 26 m favor of Government. .The clause was still under discussion when the House rose at 5 '30.
