The Fall Mall Gazette, speaking of the visit cf the Emperor of Russia to England, says : — " So far as personal feeling is coucerned, Wellington was probably as well disposed to Napoleon on the morning of the 18th of June, 1815, as the British public are to the Emperor Alexander on the 21st of May, 1874 ; that is to say, there was no personal feeling at all, beyond respect for a great man, and an idea that national interests are above and apart from all personal considerations whatever."
