' To the Editor of lite- Martboroutjh Express. Sir. — Please insert m your next issue the cii- i dosed report of ;i re.him match played between j the Cricket Clubs of North and South Wairau. On the 2(>th December, a, return match played between the North and South Cricket Clubs, which resulted m the defeat of tno South Club, which match was played for a dinner and cricket ball, to be paid for by the losers, j During the day — which by the way was a very ! hot one — the cricket ground -was visited by many j ladies and gentlemen. At five o'clock, our rea- i pected hostess, Mrs Whayman, of the ,\Vairau Valley Hotel," prepared an excellent dinner *to which both clubs and some of their friends sat \ clowu ; aud later m the evening the ball was ,
well attended, many ladies and gentlemen coming from a great distance to attend if. Such a display of beauty seldom if ever haviug attended a ball previous to this m the Valley. The only further remark we would wish to make, is as to the good bowling and the superior play of a few of the North Club, which you, Mr Editor, can see from the enclosed report of the scores. Mr G.
