AMENDED PROSPECTUS ujd ; Cj \t Sutficdirair (iM IJftrag Camp aim, Bartlett’s Creek, Wairau District. . (To he registered under “ The Mining Companies Limited Liability Act, 1865,” and “ The Mining Companies' Limited Liability Act Amendment Act, 1869,” as soon as all the Shares are taken up.) Provisional Directors. Benjamin Sutherland, Esq. John Connal, Esq. James Balfour Wemyss, Esq., J.P. William Henry Eyes, Esq., M.H.R. Henry Dodson, Esq. Legal Manager (pro. tem.) Harry Pitt, Esq., Solicitor. Bankers. The Bank of Hew Zealand, Blenheim. Temporary Offices. Harry Pitt’s Offices, High-street, Blenheim. The Quartz Reef which it is proposed to work, is found cropping out on a spur on the Wairau side of the main range dividing the Peldrus and Wairau Vallies, at an elevation of 900 feet above Criterion Creek, a tributary ot Bartlett’s Creek, the country being a blue slate formation running N.E. by E. and S.W. by W., the reef itself running N.W. by N. and S.E. by S., thus dividing the country at right angles ; and it is a notable fact that the reef can be traced across the main range to the sources of the best tributaries of the Wakamarina River, from which so much heavy gold has been and is still being taken. The property consists of a lease, for fifteen years, under the provisions of “ The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” of 1,200 feet along the line of lode, by 300 feet on each side of the lode ] together with the priority of right for 10 sluice-heads ot water in Criterion Creek, which will give abundance of water for the efficient working of a water-wheel and other necessary machinery. , The present proprietors have, under the protection of two successive Provincial Governments, prior to the proclaiming of the district as a .Goldfield, spent nine months, and a considerable sum of money, in opening and testing the reef. They have proved it to run for a distance of 1,100 feet, being nowhere more than six feet from the surface, and have tested stone taken from, different parts of the outcrop, also from a depth of 40 feet by a shaft, and also from a depth of 115 feet, which has been reached by a tunnel 75 feet long, cut through the slate rock at an elevation of 800 feet above Criterion Creek. These tests have necessarily been of small quantities, but have shown that the entire length of the reef is gold-bearing, and yielding from two to six ounces to the ton. A : A. One ton of quartz, taken from different parts of the reef, has been crushed lately at the Perseverance Company’s one-head stamp battery—run over new plates,—which,, even under such disadvantageous ‘circumstances, gave, the result of Toz. 5 grs. of smelted gold, value £4 per ounce. • ' 1 ‘ The position of the reef offers facilities for working which cannot be surpassed by any reef in existence. It is only 26 miles from the town of Blenheim, and a loaded dray can be taken to the property without a pound being spent in road-making. The present proprietors have ascertained that the sum of £2,000 will be sufficient to cut the water-race, lay the tramways, purchase and set up the necessary machinery for a twelve-head set of stampers, and otherwise start , the mine. In'order to raise this, they propose to offer to the public One-half- the Mine, for the said sum of £2,000, in two thousand shares of £1 each,; they ; themselves receiving no bonus, merely retaining-in their own hands the other two ; thousand paid up shares, which barely repays their time and expenditure. So soon as 1 1,500 shares are taken up, a meeting will be held, a Deed of Association prepared, and permanent Directors elected; Application for shares to be made to the legal Manager, accompanied with a deposit of 10s. per share ; and the remaining 10s. per share to be paid when required, of which one month’s notice will be given. ;'A v l : ' ■' -..■■■■ ■ 1 j . :ii. . ’ ■ i . ‘ - FORM OF APPLICATION FOR SHARES.
