' Canterbury.—The Lyttelton Times reports ; —The grain market- is firm, and a good feeling exists for wheat and oats. During tho last few : days a decided advance has transpired for good dry wheat in store ready tor shipment. Several large parcels have been exported to Melbourne, Auckland, Tasmania, and Adelaide. There are several vessels now on the berth for Sydney, and this, together with the largo quantities that have been damaged this season, will assist to support quotations. Early in the week sales of wheat were made at 3s. 6d. for immediate delivery, but holders in store have now advanced their rates, and 3s. 7id. to 3s. 9d. is demanded,
Wheat for forward delivery cannot now be obtained under 3a. 4d. to 3s. 6d. The demand for oats continues brisk, but few samples are offering. Good dry heavy oats can be placed readily at 2s. 3Jd, to 2s. 4|d. Holders in store demand 2s. Gd., but as yet no sale can be reported at this figure. Barley still remains without notice, and quotations are almost nominal at 3s. to 3s. 6d., according to sample.
