A Cotton Company has been formed in Auckland. Capital is £IO,OOO, and the whole of the shares have been taken up. About 15,000 acres of land have been purchased at Nandi Bay, on the south-west point of Viti Levu, on which a ginning plant was erected at the time of the purchase, and : a small portion is in cultivation. A Good Example,— From twenty to thirty of the inhabitants of Picton responded to the invitation of the Trustees on Friday last, and attended at the Cemetery to clear the ground of fern and scrub, form the paths, &c. A large amount of work was; done, and those who attended deserve fouch credit for the able and willing manner in which they did the work. The Trustees invite the inhabitants to a secopd days clearing on Friday next, when we hope to see a large muster. Such a change from our usual|occupations is both healthy and useful, and with a day now and then set apart for such a purpose the Cemetery may be made a credit to the place.— Press.
