THE Marlborough Express.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 1870.

“ Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all other liberties. —Milton.

The whole of the Provincial Elections are now oyer, and the following gentlemen have been returned: —Messrs. Seymour,. Con oily, Western, Ward, Carter, Robinson, Mick, Hodson, P. M’Rae, Eyes, Sinclair, Baillie, G. Dodson, Ingles, Gibson, Rutland, Levien, Turner, Goulter, and A. Monro. Three only of the number are new members, and in two districts the returns are disputed on account of legal informalities. As these may be considered as at present sub judice, and having no desire to prejudice our readers in any way, we refrain from any expression ol opinion now, beyond the bare statement of fact. A similar remark applies to the Superintendency, since as nothing we can now say can effect any good, but might prove detrimental to the public welfare, we prefer to be silent. The Council will probably meet in about a month.
