I take this method also to thank my friends, both in and out of Council, who have expressed their wish that I should become the first Mayor, and while I feel that my lengthened experience of official business has in some measure fitted me for this important post, I at the same time feel that my business pursuits are so onerous and pressing that I have not sufficient time at my disposal to properly fulfil the duties of that office, I must therefore decliue to be put in nomination. 126 H.
