(From our oun Correspondent). Wellington, Friday. 6 p.m. There is still no war news via Napier nor Taranaki. (Jowan is ejected for Wallace, and Kelly for Taranaki, for General Assembly. Both are unfavorable to tlie Stafford Ministry. € The Governor has left a commission to open the Assembly on the Ist June. As was expected, ais visit to the Bay of Islands in company with Prince Alfred will probably delay his return. The Government is invited by the Natives to attend a great meeting to be held at Waikanao next Tuesday, for the purpose of c nsnlcing as to permitting the Wanganui line of telegraph to cross over Native Lands The Wellington Provincial Council is dissolved. The writ is issued for the election of a new Superintendent. Dr Featherstou is the only candidate in the field at present.
