PICTON DISTRICT PRIZE FIRING.
To the Editor of the Marlborough Express. Sir, —I beg through the columns of your valuable journal to relate what has been regarded as a gross piece of injustice towards one of the Cadets under Ensign Downes, on the day selected for the firing for the Government Prizes. On the day mentioned Jabez Blizzard, one of the Cadets, was suddenly prohibited from making his full score by the officer in command; the alleged cause being that he was talking Now, Sir, this was no more than the other Cadets were doing ; so that, if the action of Mr. Downes be right and justifiable in Blizzard’s case, why did he neglect his duty in not dismissing the whole ? As there is something so truly inexplicable in the conduct of this officer, an explanation on his part would be thankfully received.—l am, &c., M X. Z. Piston, March 24th, 1869.
