DISTRICT PRIZE FIRING.

On Thursday last the District Firing took place at Yernon. The Cadets commencing at 10 o’clock sharp. The weather was all that could be desired, the sun however being a little too glaring in the earlier part of the day. Captain Baillie was present. The occasion does not call for much remark from us ; the shooting of the Cadets at the regulation ranges of 100 and 150 yards, shews by the subjoined score fair average firing ; but that of the Marlborough Rangers at 300, 400, and 500 yards, cannot be regarded in so favorable a light, but we may ascribe it to the fact that the rifles had only recently been served out to the members. Master G. Eyes was the highest among the Cadets, and Mr, Gifford the highest in the Yolunteers ;
