WELLINGTON. (From our Own Correspondent.) Stoppage of payment by the General Government. Log-rolling by the Ministry. Divorce Act assented toArrest of one of the Patea Murderers. Friday Evening, July 3rd, 18G8, 5-4-1 p.m. The Comptroller refuses to advance any money on account of the General Government, owing to the Appropriation Act having expired on the 30th June, consequently all payments, including official salaries, due on the Ist July, are stopped until the Assembly has voted the Supply. The Solicitor-Generalship in the Upper House has been offered to the H° n - Thomas Russell, formerly War Minister in the Fox-Whitaker Government, and the Auckland votes are expected to be secured to Stafford thereby. The Divorce and Matrimonial Act passed last session, has been assented to by the Queen.
One of the Patea murderers has been apprehended at Wanganui. ,
