CANTERBURY. The Lyltetton Times of April 25, reports :—“ Our markets during the past week have shown greater activity, as compared with the week previous. The approaching winter season has no doubt, in some measure, contributed to the increased enquiry for goods, but there is not the demand which might been expected at this season of the year. The deliveries of the grain are going forward very actively, and the large amount of money paid, now circulating through the country, is exercising a most beneficial influence upon the province.” TIMARU. The Herald of April 22 remarks as follows: ‘ ‘ There is little change to report in the markets. Wheat is freely purchased at 6s. cash; oats remain at 2s. 6d., with no great demand. A good quantity of wheat is now stored in town awaiting shipment. On Monday Messrs. Stubbs and King sold by auction, at the stores of Messrs. Miles and Co., a small quantity of wool. Thirteen bales of greasy fleece were knocked down at 6d. per lb.; one bale of greasy lambs, at 7d. per lb.; and two bales of locks, at 2;|d. per pound.”
