“ Cricket, and aVengeance.” —ln the Press of Wednesday last, there appears a somewhat novel advertisement, headed “ Challenge,” and very much resembling the productions which occasionly adorn the pages of “ Fistiana” and similar journals. We feel satisfied that this has not emanated from the majority of the Picton Eleven, and are sorry to see their Captain adopt this mode of blurting out to the world the selfreliance eleven members of the Picton Club have in their strength and invincibility. Much as we desire to see Cricket progress in our Province, and a spirit of rivalry and emulation existing between our respective Clubs, we must decidedly express surprise at such ebullitions as these, and trust the players of Blenheim will not allow themselves to be led away by such effusions; but—while ready to accept any challenge, which will lead to an improvement in this manly pastime—conduct their correspondence in the friendly manner which, until now, has characterised all their intercourse.
