LATE COMMERCIAL.

MONTHLY HORSE SALE.

Wright, Stephenson and Go., Ltd., report:—W© conducted our monthly horse sale on Wednesday last at Tinnock' and Yoight’s, stables, before a medium attendance of buyers. We offered in. all 27 horses, and were successful in selling more th(Wi half that number, several good buyers being present. The top price secured was £34 for a 5-year : old mare vended by Air D. Jenkins, of Kelso. He also received £33 for a, 6-year-old and £2B for a 4-year-old, whilst a rising 3-year-old filly' realised £lB. Other district vendors sold at the following prices:—2 at £25, £23, £22, down to £8 10s. We also sold a cream pony for £l9, whilst a 3-year-old unbroken pony brought £B. We can confidently recommend farmers to send their horses in for sale, as there is a keen demand for good young horses; but anything in the old and stale class is of no use.

CLEARING SALE.

Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—ln conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., we conducted a very successful clearing sale on account of MrGeorge Whittingham at his Sunnvside farm, near Gore, last week. There was a large attendance of farmers and the bidding throughout the sale was spirited, each lot realising full market prices. Air Whittingham sold 100 mixed sex hoggets at 24s 6d, 220 at 21s Id, 37 cull hoggets 10s 9d, 18 full mouth ewes 23s Bd, 24 broken months 18s 9d. Mr cattle were in fairly good condition and the following is a summary of the prices received ;—Dairy 'cows £l6 10s. £ll 10s, £l3, £l2 15s, £l2 10s, £lO. £9 10s. £B, down to £6 heifers realised from £9 10s down to £4; a, yearling Hereford bull £8 los, two-year-old Hereford bull '£l2, 10 steers and heifers £4 each, 3 store? heifers and cow were sold at £o per head, 2 fat and forward cows realised £8 los, whilst 16 calves were knocked down at 3os. Air Whittingham’s horses, which were of a very useful kind, met with good competition, top price being £33 10s and down to £ls 10s. A grey harness gelding was sold for £lO, whilst an unbroken two-year-old filly realised £B, and a hack mare was sold for £9 10s. Implements and sundries sold at full market rates.

At the conclusion of the sale, hearty cheers were given for Mr and Mrs Whittingham for their, kind hospitality.
