THE " V.C," PIGEON.
A recent addition to tho museum of the Royal Unit-ed Service Institution, Whitehall, London, is a military pigeon, No. 270t), which "died of wounds received in action.'’ While living with a message to di visional headquarters from ihc front lino, in the region of Menin Road, on Oetohor 3 last, the bird was hit by a bullet, which broke a leg, drove the message-carrier into its body, apd passed through its hack. In spate of its wounds, the bird struggled home through the rain to its loft, a distance of nine miles, and delivered the message the following day at 10.515 a,m. It died shortly afterwards.
