WITH THE ENEMY.

RATS LEAVE SINKING SHIP. Received February 25, 9.45 a.m. ROME, Feb. 24. The ‘Tribuna’ reports that numerous Germans are leaving Constantinople and Asiatic Turkey and the German banks in Constantinople are winding up. THE BARBAROUS TURK. PRISONERS’ STORIES OF CRUELTY. Received February 25. 8.50 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 24. Australian wounded, who have been repatriated from Turkey endorse the statements made of the cruelty oh the Turks to prisoners. They flatly contradict the statement that the Turk is a clean fighter. /The usual punishment for petty crime is to tie a prisoner bead downwards, his feet being lashed with rawhide whips. The treatment in Austria, where the Australians stayed for some weeks, was heaven compared with that in Turkey. One returned man declared thjit the Germans in Turkey were the prisoners’ only friends, probably because the Turks hate the Germans and vice versa.
