Tho weather still continues fine, and the country is beginning to have a parched appearance* v A good day siftin with the present warmth would greatly help young plants. There has been an extra' good catch of turnips throughout ibe district, and with suitable weather the winter feed is assured. Oneral work is fairly well oil considering the shortness of labor. As in most places, there seems to he a, large amount, of grass to harvest this year. This crop has been out and bulks very Well. The grain . rops are looking, remarkably well, toil some heavy crops bear the appearance of rust having set in, while the heavy winds during the past week have withered a, good deal of tincrop on the poorer ground. To till appearance harvest, will he general in about a month. ' ' Shearing is about over, and the wool (bis season lias a, better appearance than formerly. -Very satisfactory values arc being obtained, ranging from Kill to l.s'.d for best crossbred.
The annual picnic was held in the school grounds on Friday. The day being perfect, there was a good attend* mice of visitors from surrounding districts. There was keen competition in (he different events. The ladies provided the. refreshments, and one and all enjoyed themselves. The Red Cross Society held a very successful sale of fruit and soft drinks, by which the Kind will benefit to tin* extent of about L2O. The funds, from the dance also went to ibis cause.
