The section is valued at .'.'HlKid by competent men. and u is said that in a lev,- years it should he worth 14000. Tickets are being sold ai L'> lid each, and ihe winner has the option of taking 1>(K!0 sovereigns straight out in lieu oj ihe section it' so desired. The demand for tickets is mo-t gratifying to the six gentlemen who have consented to manage the art union. They are leading business men in Palmerston North and have formed themselves into a committee for the purpose ol' keeping down expenses to the lowest po.-sible figure. The chairman of the Mauawatu Patriotic Society is .Mr .1. A. Nash, who wis for many visa's .Mayor of Palmersteti N.oi'th. The book.-i are open to inspection by anyone interested and this prrenuton is certainly appreciated by the public and has created complete confidence in the management of the M c Hardy (lift Art I'liion. Everything is being done to ensure that the money paid over by tho publie to the art union shall go to help ihe hoys who have been put out of action at Anzac and elsewhere. The funds will not be allowed to lie idle in the Dominion hut will go straight to the front. In thi.s connection it is announced that the Manawatu Patriotic Society has decided to send a substantial sum every month to the Y.M.I'.A.. whose splendid work in Kgypt. .Malta. Mudros and d'allipoli has won the admiration of all. Kvorv half-crown then goes to buy comforts for -New Zoaianders in hospitals abroad or in the firing line, and those who wish to help our brave lads cannot do belter than take a ticket or two for themselves.
