VETERINARY ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the executive of the Gore Veterinary Associalion uvas lield on Saturday afternoon and was attended by Messrs T. Logan-(president), Jas. Stevenson, H. Smith, M. R. Lawlor. J. Clouston, and Goo. Hunter. SURGEON’S RESIGNATION.

Tho secretary read a letter from Mr H. E, Martin, M.R.C.V.S., tendering his resignation as veterinary surgeon to the association on the grounds of his removal from the district, to Christchurch' for family health, reasons, tho resiguation to take effect- from May I. Tho chairman expressed his. regret at tho resignation. It whs hard (he said) for a matt to remain in a district when he found that the.climate affected the health of his family. Mr Martin had always got. on well with members of the association, and many would: be suprised and would regret to hear of of his departure from Gore. Mr Martin had given tho association the best of his time and ability, and .no one could complain that he had 1 mol been tv ell attended to. Personally, he was my sorry indeed Lo lose such a- man from their midist. ■

Mr Hugh Smith also expressed Ids regret at Mr Martin’s approaching -departure, and moved, “That the resignation. be accepted with regret.’’ Mr .Martin (said the sneaker) filled the bill 1 of a veterinary surgeon in every respect. It did not matter at what hour of the day. or night ho was called' upon, his services and skill were, -pl-'a-ccd' at the disposal of the man who wanted them. He was sorry tout the necessity had arisen for Air Martin to leave Gore and he was satisfied that lie (air Martin) would have «. successful career wherever he. went. Mr J. Clouston seconded’ the motion, and after being spoken to by Messrs Hunter, Stevenson, and Lawlor, it was carried.

Any information required of him would be gladly supplied 1 through the post. It was decided to advertise for a. successor to 'Mr. Martin, to be in .before the next meeting of the Committee. SEAWARD DOWN'S BRANCH. The secretary of the Seaward Downs branch of the Farmers’ Union wrote stating that, the branch was of opinion that if telephone communication with the veterinary surgeon’s . residence could he made available at any hour during the night, it,would be of great convenience to the fanners at a distance. The matter was held over until after tho appointment of Mr Martin’s successor. After transacting routine business the meeting adjourned.
