January ‘24.—Gore .Racing Club’s first annual race mooting. Stakes, £225. Gate takings £3O. About 1000 persons present, £IOB4 being put through the totalisator. Messrs T. Green judge, T. Hewitt, starter; N. W. Kingdon, clerk of the course. Racing started' 1,30 p.m. and finished 8 p.m. Gore stock sale. —Fat cows realised £4 5s down to £3 15s, and crossbred', hoggets 8s 4d tolls 6d. A consignment of prime fat bullocks from Ed en da 1c Estate to Dunedin realised from £8 2s fkl to £7 12s 6d. January 28. —Annual meeting Southland Frozen Meat Co., Ltd.' The chairman stated that the company would 1 probably export from 76,000 to 75,000 sheep during the coming year, and pay producers 2d per lb.
