It was stated that 16 other charges would be preferred again-.t the aroused. The case was -adjourned. Appiira.cion, wa:s made for b-v!, but the magistrate said that tho accused had left New Zealand for Austra!:.! a.nd skipoed bail there, so that, though entitled to bail asa right, it mu'-.t be a..prohibitive amount. He fixed it at accused in his own recognisance of £2OOO. fine other surety of £2OOO and two sureties ol' £IOOO each.
