HUSBAND'S DENIALS.
The suit brought- liy Hiss Mae Sullivan against Mr Arthur Hoe, ;;nn of the printing-press manufacturer, for £-15,(100 damages for breach of pronrse. recently went to the jury iji ISew York. Mr Hoe gave evidence that his acquaintance with Miss Sullivan him £SOQO in blackmail. He dei'.ied that he had ever proposed marriage to her or even caressed her. Mi ?s Sullivan alleged that towards the end of their intimacy Mr H.OO told her that lie was in financial straits, and that he could ""lit- me in a houS9 where I could make all kinds of money." Throughout the ease Mr Hoe's wife; lias sat in the court, encouraging her' husband with smiles. j 1
